Size Determination: Fine
- Fiber
- Wool
- Type
- Merino fleece
- Reason for choice of this sample
- This Australian Merino is soft and has a good staple length for a fine fleece. The mixed shades blend to a medium gray.
- Source
- Australian Originals — Portland, Oregon
- Preparation for spinning
- Scoured and sorted for color and length, flicked and combed. I included a little darker wool with each batch so it was not all one shade.
- Equipment used
- Dog brush, two row combs, flyer spinning wheel
- Type of spinning
- Short backward draft
- Direction of Twist
- Z
- Number of plies
- 1
- Finishing
- Wet blocked
- Suggested uses
- Warp for garment fabrics, combine with a lower twist weft for a warmer fabric or as both warp and weft for suiting. The color is appropriate for traditional menswear. In a two-ply, it would be suited to soft but still durable knitted lace. The fine fiber can be worn next to the skin.

Both liked this yarn, although both noted a few spots of variable size. Examiner 2 particularly liked the color blending. This is one of my favorite yarns, I like combing, fine yarn and Merino. My friend the fine fabric weaver adores this one.
