This is an interesting idea I've tried before, but I didn't like how it came out and I hate spinning enough that I don't care to do it all over. The fiber is a green and white striped cotton top. The green fiber is shorter than the white, so it drafts in lumps. The idea is to so absurdly overtwist it that when plied it creates spiral corkscrews. It's a nice theory. The problem is that the single requires so much twist that it won't even wind on the bobbin -- I have to hold it under tension and turn the bobbin by hand. The spinning was so annoying that I didn't have good control over the fiber. I wanted some slubs but some are too large and I'm afraid the yarn will start to pill before I even finish. I haven't even boiled it yet, something that will not only remove the waxy coating from the cotton fibers but also darken the natural green.
